Testicular Cancer Symptoms

Testicular cancer is caused by cancer cells that spread from the region in and around the testicles or from other parts and finally reach the testicles.

Eventually these cancerous cells make their way in the lymph nodes. Some other parts of the body such as the stomach, lungs might get affected. If the cancer spreads to these parts, there is a creation of lumps that further destroy the body.

When it comes to the kinds of testicular cancer, there are only 2 known types:

* Seminoma.
* Non-Seminoma.

The above mentioned names refer to the specific types of cancerous cells that cause the tumor or the lump.

If we focus our attention on the exact cause of this type of cancer, it is not established with certainty. However, recent findings indicate that there is a gradual increase in the number of testicular cancer patients. One of the causes has been attributed to the undescended testicles present in some men. These are generally present since birth.

Some of the characteristics of the victims of this type of cancer are:

* People who are white.
* People who are affected with orchitis.
* Heredity also has a role in some cases.
* Impotency or a problem similar to this may also cause this.
* People who are having a rich background.

One of the major misconceptions that have been associated with testicular cancer is that men who have undergone the surgery for vasectomy are at a greater risk. The same fear holds for people who have had a groin injury of some sort. However, none of these are true and should not disturb anyone.

Let us have a look at some symptoms that point towards testicular cancer:

* There is general and consistent pain in and around the area of the testicles.
* The affected person feels tired and sleepy all the time.
* Sometimes there is a dull ache in the lower abdomen and the scrotum area.
* The lower area of the body feels heavy as if it is being pulled down.

Some symptoms have been consistently observed in patients who are in the advanced stages:

* A person coughing may cough out blood too.
* There is noticeable pain in the back.
* Problems in breathing.

As soon as you observe any of these symptoms, it is highly recommended to pay a visit to the doctor. Identification in time is the first step towards the cure. If the treatment starts in time, the patient has a much better chance of getting fully cured.

Usually, the action taken by doctors is to the remove the testicle that has been affected by cancer. Sometimes, the cancer spreads to other regions of the body. In that case, patients are advised to take chemotherapy before and after the operation.

The usual aftereffects include decreased libido which impacts a man's sex life.
